Toshio Matsuura

Toshio Matsuura, Japanese electronic DJ and producer, was first known for his work as one of the three collective members of the United Future Organization formed in 1990. In 12 years, he and his band have released more than 5 albums that have been marketed all over the world and have earned them a very good reputation.

Since their demise in 2002, he has concentrated more on DJ-ing at clubs and festivals internationally, producing events and music supervision for notable fashion brands. While his solo production and remix work during this period, often using the pseudonym Fantasista, has included many artists, including James Brown, Astor Piazzolla, Gotan Project, Melanie De Biasio…

In 2013, he gathered talented and forward-thinking artists based in Tokyo to produce a project called HEX (30) which presents Tokyo’s progressive form of Jazz to the world, with their debut self-titled album "Hex" (2013) released worldwide on major jazz label Blue Note.

Around 2018, new project Toshio Matsuura Group gathered UK musicians, with the album "Loveplaydance" (2018) being released on Gilles Peterson's British label Brownswood Recordings.

Matsuura has two regular radio programs. The first being "WW Tokyo", broadcast 11:00-13:00 (UK time) on the 1st & 3rd Monday each month, on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM. With the second being "Tokyo Moon", which airs 17:00-18:00 each Sunday (Japan time) on "InterFM897"

To highlight this proximity, our wish is to highlight all the independent artists and labels in cooperation with with a "Coop" tag.

If this tag also appears on an article, it means that we are the only intermediary between them and you. By adding Coop products to your cart, you help pay them fairer compensation and help them continue to develop their artistic projects over time.
