The band’s forthcoming eponymous album was recorded in Cornwall with renowned producer John Cornfield at the helm, who has previously overseen the production console on classic records by Muse, Oasis, Robert Plant, Razorlight and more. On recording the album, singer Ol Beach said: “John gave us plenty of creative freedom, which was a good thing because we compose a lot of music with each other in a very spontaneous way. There’s no fixed process.”
The album runs through a spectrum of tried and true rock ‘n’ roll styles and sounds, working in tandem with the band’s undeniable spirit and soul. The discovery of each track is like thumbing through a treasure trove of vinyl in a newly uncovered record store. Opener ‘Lone Runner’, as well as ‘Wild World’, ‘River’ and ‘Moon Rising’ are instant classics, perfectly primed for the stages of the hottest summer festivals. Tracks like ‘One Go’ and ‘Looking For Love’ bring mid-tempo rock ballad balance and a sense of melancholic yearning to cleanse the listening palate. On writing the album, Ol said: “We simply make our music in the hope that it will touch people.
Between them, the group have already amassed an array of impressive credentials. Having previously opened for The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park in 2013 and Queen + Adam Lambert on their 2016 European tour, singer/songwriter Ol went on to form the band. Electric Pyramid soon picked up members from all over the world, with Mexican-born Christian Mendoza taking guitar, keys and vocal duties. Christian has toured the globe with a diverse range of artists, from Nelly Furtado to Enrique Inglesias and Vernon Reid. London’s Linus Taylor (guitar and vocals) is well known on the city’s blues scene and has toured internationally as a member of Bryan Ferry’s band. Italian-born Luigi Casanova (bass and vocals) has performed with Brit blues musician Joanne Shaw-Taylor, plus Joe Bonamassa and Foreigner. British drummer Chris Brice (drums, percussion and vocals) studied percussion at London’s prestigious Guildhall School of Music, and previously supported Coldplay on their European stadium tour.
Ahead of the release of the album and pre-Covid times, Electric Pyramid released the single ‘Woman’s Touch’ (2019), followed by ‘Paradise’, a duet recorded with former French porn star Céline Tran (formerly know as Katsuni), the video for which has close to 200k views on YouTube. The group have toured the clubs of Paris and London, and the European festival scene. They signed to Japan’s Ward Records and played the nation’s largest festival, Summer Sonic which takes place in Tokyo and Osaka.
