Since its launch in 2012, the people at Antinote have systematically been asked the question “What kind of music are you releasing?” and it has not been an easy one...
Since inception they have shone the light on a burgeoning group of French and non-French artists.
Releasing works from across the spectrum of genres, they give their artists time and space to explore and develop their sound. With the aide of Nico Motte from graphic design studio Check Morris, they deliver each record as a musical and visual experience.

Stéphane Laporte has been quietly making beautiful experimental tape music for quite some time now. Whilst working in other groups and under different aliases, his Fourrure Sounds volumes provide a distinct and textural sound that fit right in on Antinote
Not only is Nico Motte one of the minds behind all the sleeves on the label, he is also responsible for a brilliant full-length album, Life Goes On If You Are Lucky. Since his debut 12" on Antinote, Rheologia, he engaged himself in a conversation with his machines, discussing filmic references and tackling esoteric issues. His music reports his nightly reflections in Synth City Studio.
Sign Libra is Latvian artist and composer Agata Melnikova’s moniker. Her work mainly focuses on the microscopic lives of living beings in the rain forest. Each song works like a musical “tableau” in which the main protagonists - plants and animals - come on stage to play their part in a ballet carefully choreographed by Agata Melnikova.

Latvian duo Domenique Dumont’s identity fueled a lot of speculations since their 2015 debut record, Comme Ca, an oddball of light pop music, sung in a mysterious French-sounding language. With only six songs they succeeded in imposing their fantasy world, a digital percussion-driven blend of sounds from aquariums, sunsets and Douanier Rousseau’s jungles.
It’s already been two years since Leonardo Martelli’s debut with the four-tracker Menti Singole. The Italian producer has since been following the direction he took with this first release, that is to say haunted and desperate electro productions backed by ominous Badalementi-recalling synthwaves, in line with long-standing traditions from Detroit.
Radiante Pourpre is one of the many children of Simple Music Experience, a collective and label floating somewhere between Marseille, Paris and Bordeaux. Alex & Léopold, the two halves of Radiante Pourpre, learned in some smoky basement how to give life to their own desolated mental landscapes - only populated by the ghostly figures of the likes of Muslimgauze and Genesis P-Orridge - and to merrily lose themselves into them during long sessions surrounded by Korg synths and cassette players.
After discovering records at the age of 16 Raphaël quit a promising horse-riding career and never looked back. With highly sought after edits on various labels Raphaël Top-Secret has become notorious for discovering obscure and wonderful records. But at some point simply digging and editing became unsatisfying for him, at which point he began trying to produce his own music. A Paris native but also half Belgian, Raph moved to Brussels between 2010-2016 and positioned his choice of apartment conveniently next to the famous daily flea market ‘Jeu de Balle’ to continue his discoveries. It was during this period though that he also started to experiment with his friend Nelson Bishop in a tiny top floor room full of gear, giving birth to the Antinote 12inch ‘Love So High’ released in 2016. After his time in Brussels Raphaël knew it was time to go back to Paris « cause you know it’s very hard to eat shitty bread for years when you’re French… » Back in his familiar 18th district surrounded by good bakeries, he reconnected with his longtime friends from the Antinote crew and continued expanding the catalogue from the label with the band 18 RAYS as well as appearing on the ‘5 Years Of Loving Notes’ compilation with his song ‘Maurilia. As a DJ Raphaël is rocking some of the best underground parties around the world. Moving effortlessly between everything from Boogie, Downtempo, Rap, Reggae, Afro-Caribbean synth bangers, Ambient or Industrial dance to the deepest late 80’s and early 90’s House, spreading a very unique DJ style that only he owns the secret to…
Antinote summoned Panoptique and JC Satan’s Paula to join forces, the result is a band soberly called Succhiamo (first person plural of “to suck” in Italian). At a time when “Balearic” has become the new musical gospel, the duo happily kicks over the anthill with over-saturated simple patterns of drum machines and EBM-infused lines of synths backing overtly sexual vocals in Italian. Nothing more, nothing less.
